KELOWNA - Forty-nine people will have a safe and secure place to call home with a new supportive housing project opening in Kelowna.

PORT ALBERNI – BC Housing secured a third-party contractor to conduct an independent review of operational concerns about the Port Alberni Shelter Society’s (PASS) management of two shelters as well as their housing in the community.

VICTORIA - The Province, through BC Housing, has made a number of improvements to a program that helps seniors and people with permanent disabilities or diminished abilities with the cost of making adaptations to their homes for independent living.

As a precautionary measure to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and support the safety of clients and employees, BC Housing is temporarily closing some in-person services. EffectiveMonday March 16, 2020 at 11:30 am, BC Housing will be closing:

SALMON ARM - Low- to moderate-income people in Salmon Arm are moving into 32 safe and affordable rental homes, withthe first phase of a new housing development opening in the community.

SQUAMISH - People in Squamish will soon have more affordable homes to choose from, with construction underway on a 76-unit rental housing project in the community.

VANCOUVER - More people experiencing homelessness in Vancouver, including those sleeping at Strathcona Park, will soon have access to a safe, warm and secure place to stay with 24-7 support.

SOOKE - Two new housing projects are on the way to Sooke that will provide 75 affordable rental homes for people with low to moderate incomes, along with 33 supportive homes for people experiencing homelessness in the community.

VANCOUVER - The Province, in partnership with the City of Vancouver and the federal government, is proposing two new permanent supportive housing developments that, if approved, would deliver approximately 230 new homes for people.

VICTORIA - The Province has extended the lease of the Travelodge until Dec. 31, 2021, in order to ensure its residents are not displaced onto the street or nearby parks.

CRANBROOK - New affordable rental homes are now open for Indigenous peoples in Cranbrook.

CAMPBELL RIVER - Construction has finished on a 50-unit supportive housing development in Campbell River that will provide homes with 24/7 support for people experiencing or at risk of homelessness.

BURNABY - The Province is partnering with the Progressive Housing Society on two new projects that will deliver 43 new supportive homes, along with 40new shelter spaces, for people experiencing or at risk of homelessness in Burnaby.

VERNON - The Province is working in partnership to deliver new affordable rental homes for people with low to moderate incomes in Vernon and Oliver.

VICTORIA − The Province, through BC Housing, has signed a lease with GSL Group that will allow the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre (SOFMC) to be used again for temporary housing beginning in March.

INVERMERE - Thirty new affordable homes are on the way for families, seniors and women and children leaving violence in Invermere, with construction underway on a new townhouse project.

VANCOUVER - The Province, through BC Housing, is looking at options to revitalize an aging housing complex in East Vancouver.

NORTH VANCOUVER - The Province, the District of North Vancouver and RainCity Housing and Support Society are working together to bring a new supportive housing project to the community for women and their families.

KELOWNA - People in need of a warm, safe place to stay during the winter months will soon have access to additional temporary shelter spaces in Kelowna, thanks to a partnership between the Province and Turning Points Collaborative Society.

SQUAMISH - Middle-income families and individuals in Squamish will soon have access to 67 new rental homes in their community as construction gets underway on a new apartment building.
