VICTORIA - People in Victoria will have access to more than 500 new rental homes, retail spaces and a public plaza, as construction begins on a major redevelopment at the corner of Douglas and Caledonia streets.

SALT SPRING ISLAND - More people in need of affordable and supportive housing on Salt Spring Island will have a new place to call home with the opening of a new building on Drake Road.

SAANICH - Seniors, veterans and adults living with disabilities are moving into 88 new suites with the opening of the new Nigel House in Saanich.

PORT ALBERNI – Indigenous people in the Alberni Valley will have access to 35 new affordable rental homes as the Citaapi Mahtii housing development opens in Port Alberni.

PRINCE RUPERT – Lax Kw'alaams Band members will have more affordable housing options with nearly 60 new homes opening or starting construction.

VANCOUVER - Solving Canada’s housing crisis requires immediate action to build up supply and bring down costs. The Government of Canada is stepping up with unprecedented investments to supercharge housing construction in Canada. To that end, the federal government launched Build Canada Homes a new federal agency that will build affordable housing at scale, including transitional and supportive housing, deeply affordable and community housing, and affordable homes for the Canadian middle class.

KELOWNA - More families, seniors and people living with disabilities now have affordable, energy-efficient homes in Kelowna with the opening of Capstone, adding 122 rental homes to the Apple Valley community.

OSOYOOS - Osoyoos Indian Band members and Osoyoos residents will have access to 43 new affordable rental homes with the opening of mxitp Cedar Lane Apartments.

VICTORIA - Data taken from the latest provincewide homeless counts indicates that homelessness continues to affect people throughout British Columbia, including youth, families, seniors and individuals from all backgrounds.

KAMLOOPS - People experiencing or at risk of homelessness will soon have more housing options with the Province and the City of Kamloops partnering on a new temporary housing development.

LANGLEY - Construction has started on nearly 250 rental homes in the Township of Langley, helping more people find housing options close to work, school and community services.

VANCOUVER - People living in Metro Vancouver will soon have access to more affordable housing with 400 new rental homes opening and breaking ground in Coquitlam, North Vancouver and Vancouver.

VALEMOUNT - Seniors, including those with mobility challenges, are moving into 18 affordable, accessible homes close to services and amenities in Valemount, helping them stay connected to the community they know and love.

VANCOUVER – People experiencing homelessness will benefit from continued day-space drop-in services, as the Province extends funding to Watari Counselling and Support Services (Watari) and Aboriginal Front Door Society (AFDS).

MAPLE RIDGE - Seniors in Maple Ridge will have access to more affordable housing with construction starting on 98 homes.

NEW WESTMINSTER - Youth transitioning out of foster care, and young mothers in New Westminster are closer to having a safe, stable place to live as construction starts on a new 89-home development in the community.

QUESNEL - People with low to moderate incomes in Quesnel, including Indigenous Elders, seniors and families, will soon have access to safe, affordable housing with construction underway on 35 new rental homes.

SAANICH - People experiencing or at risk of homelessness now have more safe places to stay with the opening of 25 additional temporary shelter spaces at the Victoria Native Friendship Centre (VNFC) in Saanich, bringing its total number of overnight shelter spaces to 50.

WILLIAMS LAKE - People experiencing homelessness in Williams Lake have access to additional shelter spaces with the opening of Roots on First.

POWELL RIVER - More support is on the way for people experiencing homelessness as the Province and the City of Powell River partner on a new temporary shelter.

British Columbia Housing Management Commission (BC Housing) purchased King Arthur Court in Nanaimo with the intention of developing it into safe, affordable and quality housing for Indigenous people and their families. The existing structure was renovated so that it could be occupied while waiting for redevelopment of the property. The housing facility, known as Sanala, was managed by Nanaimo Aboriginal Centre Society. As a result of concerns raised by residents of Sanala and their legal counsel, Acheson Sweeney Foley Sahota, LLP, BC Housing became aware that living conditions at Sanala were inadequate.

KELOWNA - More women and their children leaving violence now have safe, secure place to stay as 44 new shelter and transitional housing spaces have opened in Kelowna.

QUALICUM BEACH - People living in Qualicum Beach with low to moderate incomes have access to 56 new affordable homes with the opening of the Residences at Qualicum Station.

VANCOUVER - People living and those working in supportive housing will be safer and better supported as the Province begins work to ensure housing providers are able to take quick and decisive action against problematic tenants and guests, and address air-quality issues related to second-hand exposure to fentanyl.

POUCE COUPE - People in northeastern British Columbia are one step closer to a new centre that will offer a holistic, culturally safe approach to addictions treatment and recovery, supporting more people on their healing journey.

KELOWNA – People at risk of or experiencing homelessness in Kelowna will soon have access to 60 new temporary homes with the opening of Balsam Place.

VICTORIA - Non-profit and municipal housing providers can apply for more than $775 million in total funding to deliver more than 4,600 rental homes through the latest intake of the Building BC: Community Housing Fund.

ELKFORD - Seniors and people living with disabilities in Elkford now have access to 25 new, affordable rental homes with the opening of a new development.

BURNABY – Seniors in Burnaby are moving into 155 new affordable rental homes with the opening of Dania Gardens, a new six-storey housing building offering a vibrant community for seniors to thrive.
