New data released by BC Housing shows for the second consecutive year, a record number of purpose-built rental homes were registered in British Columbia, approximately 30% more than in 2022.

PORT ALBERNI - Seniors and people living with disabilities in Port Alberni now have access to more affordable rental housing with the opening of Huupsitas, a new 48-unit apartment building.

DUNCAN - More than 30 people experiencing homelessness in Duncan will continue to have access to safe homes with supports as the Province, through BC Housing, has extended operating funding for The Village until 2027.

KELOWNA - Non-profit operators have been selected for two new temporary housing projects underway for people experiencing homelessness in Kelowna.

MASSETT - First Nation Elders, seniors and workers from Old Massett and Masset villages will soon have access to 12 renovated homes following the Province's purchase, through BC Housing, of 1545 Wallace St.

NANAIMO - Women and their children leaving violence in and around Nanaimo will soon have access to 47 safe spaces as construction starts on a new transitional and second-stage housing development.

MERRITT - First Nations families, elders and youth in Merritt will have access to more affordable rental homes, with construction underway on a 52-unit development.

SOOKE − Indigenous families, elders and people in Sooke now have access to 75 below-market homes, with the opening of a new purpose-built rental building at 2170 Charters Rd.

COQUITLAM - kʷikʷəƛ̓əm (Kwikwetlem) First Nation families, individuals and elders will soon move into 14 new homes with the opening of an affordable rental development on reserve at Lot 16, 65 Colony Farm Rd.

SALMON ARM - People experiencing homelessness in Salmon Arm have access to a safe and secure place to stay, with the opening of a new long-term shelter on 341 Fraser Ave.

COMOX - Seniors and people living with disabilities in Comox are moving into 52 new affordable and accessible rental homes with the opening of Cypress Gardens.

NANAIMO - A 53- unit affordable rental housing building, supported by the federal and provincial governments, is now open in North Nanaimo.

VICTORIA - More Indigenous people will soon have new affordable rental homes on and off reserve as the Province is inviting Indigenous housing providers, First Nations and other Indigenous organizations to submit proposals for the Building BC: Indigenous Housing Fund (IHF).

ROSSLAND - More people in the West Kootenay region, including families, seniors and those living with disabilities will soon have more affordable rental homes to choose from with nearly 70 units, which are under construction or open.

PRINCE GEORGE - People experiencing homelessness in Prince George will continue to have access to safe and secure housing as the Province purchases two properties to preserve and create 123 supportive homes.

SPARWOOD - People in need of affordable housing in the Kootenay region will soon be moving into a new 30-unit apartment complex in Sparwood.
